The practical part of dealing with tech is always the financial wake up call that comes with it all. Usually its the big ideas that bring about the big money but for most of us we are just trying to muscle it out and make a few bucks off our little inventions like apps or maybe something bigger when it comes to programing and what not.
If you haven’t noticed there has been a big rise in tech jobs in Florida. Its almost like the new silicon valley. For those people like me you should really have a look at your living situation before taking work down there. I found a couple of sites that might help:
Those two can get you off on the right foot at least with getting your insurance issues in order. You’ll also need to find an apartment and get the car first but as most people know its usually the insurance issues that can get you when moving.
I am posting this because I realize that with the tech industry changing so much there are going to be a lot of people that aren’t familiar with Florida. I mean everybody knows about Palo Alto and the San Francisco area (well at least anybody that every wants to work in the computer industry) but Florida is like a a foreign land for most. Hopefully this will get you started on your search for getting your feet on the ground assuming your company has moved you down there or if this is your first job in the US. I wish you luck.
