Care for those with big hands.

I’m currently working on a custom image picker for Dayta (yes, I’ll release this soon), and I’ve realized that many developers skip over that little extra mile to help those with fat fingers out. My tip for you this hour: when creating buttons, even though they look small, make sure they’re not (I’ve heard that 64×64 should be the minimum).

Confused? Same.

Look at this:

Image Picker for Dayta

While the images look small, the actual “hit-area” is actually more than twice as big. You don’t have to hit the pictures for it to register, you just have to tap the general vicinity.

Most users won’t notice this little touch, but some will. And they’ll smile. :)

  • They look alot like the icons created in the Tango project at http://tango.freedesktop.org.
  • Amuso
Probably a dumb question, but are these icons part of the SDK, or are they custom made miniature icons?
  • slavingia
    Custom-made.
  • Hui
Good advice, I noticed the cog icon when viewing a user in twizzle is way too small, takes a good 5 presses to hit it
  • slavingia
Yeah, that'll be fixed soon (after this week).
  • Did you consider using www.glyphish.com icons? Awesome so far btw!
  • Amazing! Will make my life much easier :D
  • :)

And yes, there is a pun in the last line. Sorry!
