Dayta now *really* available.

If you were getting an error downloading Dayta before, try now. It should work. :)

And you should get it. :D

Hi mate. How did you add 6.5 as an entry I can't do that. There is no ".".

Also any chance you can allow us to add a time to track. Ie. I want to track when I go to bed and wake up. I can easily do this with you app. Thanks.
  • Ignotus
Hello? os4 has destroyed a very good app - any plans to update? Have you abandoned the project? Either way, be honest and let us know. Very disappointed.
  • slavingia
I haven't, I've just been very busy. I'm still working on it - hours upon
hours a day; it's a whole rewrite to Core Data plus some more features.
  • James
Yeah it'd be really great to see an updated version, I love this app for its simplicity and beauty. It's really Apple-style, if you know what I mean.

Could you just tell me how long you're already programming in iPhone frameworks and how long it took you to learn how to do it? I might want to start learning it myself...
  • great to hear, I really like the concept - but on iOS3.2.1 (iPad) and iOS 4.0.1 iPhone when you swipe the leather for the keyboard entry it crashes. iOS 4 lets you bring up the keyboard on the very first entry of a new data log, but the decimal place overlay doesn't show. On subsequent tries, when you try to bring up the keyboard it crashes out. Similarly for goals, first time entry is OK but subsequent tries crash it.
can't wait for the patched version, it would be great if everything worked (kudos on the sparklines)

Planning to update it soon? Pretty crashy on iOS4, and wished I had come here before I bought it so I could see there was no updates for five months.
  • That's really true, Thanks a lot
  • It's great, I use it to track my gym exercises, However it's very hard, difficult and silly to enter high weights on the app ( like 108 lbs, 132lbs ) and takes along time also, so please andd a num keybad .
Also sometimes I click on the number by wrong to find it added to the log , So allow us to wipe/delete indvidual entries from logs .
Final request, allow us to duplicate the latest entry, very helpful for gym players. Thanks.
  • slavingia
    This is all there.

    1) Swipe the leather to get a numeric keyboard.

    2) You can delete entries using the Data Points view.

    3) You can add duplicate entries also using the Data Points view (the up arrow next to Recent History)

    - Thanks!
    Sahil.

I'm having an issue with the app crashing - I've just added a new tracker for alcohol - to see how many standard drinks I consume, and after adding it, every time I tried to add a data point (specifically the two standard drinks I had this evening), it crashes. It works fine for the two trackers I've already set up. I've rebooted my iphone in case that was the problem, and still no luck in updating my drinks.

Is there any way other than twitter to contact Sahil?

  • imoeris
Hmmm - if I set "reset to zero daily" and "consolidate by day" to off, I can enter data points, but not if they're both set to on. This is very odd.
  • slavingia
    I'll take a look.
  • imoeris
I've come across a few more issues with this app. Is there an email address I can use to outline these? I can be contacted on imoeris at gmail dot com.

    Thanks!
  • imoeris
Did a couple of quick tests - if I set "consolidate by day" as on and "reset to zero daily" as off, it will crash when I try to enter any data. But if I do it the other way, with "reset to zero daily" as on, and "consolidate by day" as off, and enter data, it works fine. I can then go back to the data options and change "consolidate by day" to on, and I can continue to enter data - although obviously it only adds the new data to the most recent data point.

But now I have had three standard drinks and must go to bed!!! :-)
  • I followed your work, and downloaded your app.
Now using it to register daily cello and bassoon exercise duration.
A very good job ! Thank you very much.

Please note apparent errand of GOAL line placement in graphics.

Feature request: A quicker way to edit the date. Specifically, a way to easily jump to a different year. I am tracking the number of songs I have in my music library by year. It takes a long time to scroll back through the years.
    Thanks, i'm loving the app.

I'm fine with the price, but .. why does it not work on iPhone OS 3.1? I don't want to upgrade yet, but can't install in the current version. Can you make the version date back to 3.1 or does it use some APIs that are more recent?
  • slavingia
The update will hopefully support older OSs (my old version of xCode didn't support older versions - strangely).
  • Casey
Its not free anymore? I looked when it was first released and it was free, waited a day and became .99. A bit mad, but it's ok I guess.
  • slavingia
I need to make money somehow? I made it free to reward the followers, and then priced it (at an extremely low price too) for everyone else.
  • Casey
Ah ok. I followed all week, every day :(
  • Mathias
Seriously dude? Why the hell would the app be free? Obviously developers need to make money like everyone else, that's how the world works.
  • Casey
I know they do, but if you were following throughout the week then you'd know that it was going to be put up for free, and it actually was put up for free for the first day, i just missed it...
  • slavingia
    It's only a dollar.

Just got this this morning and am still learning it... a couple quick notes about potential tweaks to make (and maybe you can already do these, I just haven't figured out how)... ability to edit the folder-level icon after creation, ability to re-order the individual data logs after creation, and most of my interest in trending will be based on time of day, not just day, so a few more options in that realm of reporting would be nice.

    Keep it up... great start!
  • Patryk
It's looking like a great app, and I would like to suggest one more functionality:
    - binary logs (like streaks - http://www.freshapps.com/streaks/)

    keep on good work :)
  • beroe
You know about daytum.com? Would be great in v 2.0 to have dayta sync with daytum...

Also, that whole 8 glasses of water per day turned out to be a misunderstanding:

Big problem with the goal feature. My wife is recording her weight using Dayta, she ways around 59.0 to 60.0 Kg, and she wanted to setup a goal of 60.0 Kg. Unfortunately when she does that the goal goes always to something around 55 kg. However if I setup the goal to 70 or 600 it seems to work fine.

    Best
  • slavingia
Hm strange. I'll look into it.
  • Martini
I, too, am seeing an oddity in the goal functionality. I tried the Glasses Of Water idea and have entered a list of 0 and 4 over two days. I set the goal to 8. But in the visualization for the two points, the goal is below the point of 4, if that makes sense.
By the way, I followed your development week and enjoyed it. So, I bought your app to support your great idea.
  • Martini
This is Martini again. I just saw another oddity. I used the Edit function in the Dashboard to rearrange the list order. However, when I later started the app again and added another list item (read another Data Log), the order got reversed back to the original one, i.e. the oldest Data Log at the bottom and newest at the top.

I don't quite understand the "Reset to zero daily" option. I'm not seeing a difference with and without it turned on.
  • I don't get it either. It seems to reset to 0 every time whether its turned on or not.

Also it took me a while to figure out that you could swipe the leather area to be able to use the numpad to input data
  • slavingia
Reset to zero means that if you check it the next day, it'll reset to zero.

If reset to zero is OFF, then it'll stay the same if you check it the next day (148 yesterday will automatically put 148 in the tapper).
  • Finally got my hands on it.
Great application and I'll definitely be doing a review over on my blog: http://isingers.info

By the way: I might be following too many of the oneweekapp twitter accounts because check this out: http://i.imgur.com/IMzwP.png

It worked before for me. I downloaded it the second you posted that it was out! Great app!!
